Smarter than a Kitten

The kitten watched Leonard, his eyes seeming to the boy as if locked on his every move...Leonard began to zone out, falling deeper and deeper into those dark eyes, as if mesmerized. He suddenly blinked, realizing he was being intimidated by a kitten. He might be the same size as the kitten now, but he was a person. He could outsmart a kitten. "Nice kitty," he tried, suddenly, backing up.
