ABANDONED: A Speeding Car

Giving up his search, Charlie walked back outside into the alley. And that was when he was nearly run over by a speeding car. It zoomed down the alley and then out onto the road. Charlie ran after it as fast as he could, then waved his arms around, trying to grab the driver's attention. "Hey! Come back! What happened to everyone?!" But the car didn't stop. Charlie hung his head. The one chance of getting to the bottom of this had just slipped through his fingers. But if there was any consolation, it was that he learned that he wasn't as alone as he thought.
