Harlequin Midnight

John's eyes would just not focus. One moment he saw red and gold, or yellow, the next he would slip back into unconsciousness. "What..." He tried to say, grumbling through a fog. His body wouldn't move - it felt like if he had slept on it all night, numb and painful and impossible to move all in one. "Oh, there it is! " He heard before slipping into unconsciousness again. Suddenly he found himself awake and quite aware, shaking his head away from a horrible, horrible stench. As his eyes focused he saw a white-painted face inches away from his. "AAAH!" He screamed and trashed, digging bands of leather against wrists and ankles. "Aaaah!" The face laughed, twirling in place, hair a mess of red and blue and gold. John breathed in fast and hard, looking around he realised he was still in the lab, and very much tied to a desk that had been propped upright against a wall.
