The Cloud: Zoe Tries to Tell Jon About the Weirdness

At that moment, Zoe heard some movement coming from the hallway and jumped up from her bed (which now had light beige blankets atop it) and headed out of her room. "Oh, hey, Zoe," Jon said, startled by her sudden appearance. Zoe felt relieved. Jon didn't seem any different. He was still his kinda geeky self. But that relief was short-lived, as she would soon discover. "Did Linda already leave?" he asked. "I don't hear her music blasting. You know, I swear. Sometimes I'm not even sure she's really my sister. With all that weird gothic stuff she's into. You know what I mean?" Zoe was about to get angry at him. Obviously, he didn't know what it was like to be a Goth, but then she looked down at herself and got a shock. She didn't look gothic anymore. Instead, she looked ... plain and ordinary. Just like her bedroom, shuddering at the thought. "Jon, something weird is going on," Zoe said, but just after she said it, those weird lights returned.
