Jon Gives Up

"There you are," a voice said. Jon looked up. It was his sister Zoe. She could see that Jon was trying to fight the change. He had set up the device so that he could blast himself with it. But he hadn't pulled the trigger yet. He looked up at her. He was straining so much, he had tears in his eyes. "Don't fight it, Jon. You're hurting yourself." She was right, he *was* hurting himself. And with that simple realization, Jon released the device and stopped fighting the change. He was Goth now. And he had accepted it. "He's here!" Zoe yelled to the others. She bent down and picked up the device. A moment later, the others showed up and Karyn helped Jon to his feet. "Are you okay, Jon?" Karyn asked. "Yeah. I am."
