Gould, Weed and Jones were getting ready for the expedition south when the phone rang again. Gould answered this time. The call was again a call for him. The caller identified himself as FBI Agent David Stewart of the Domino Task Force. Agent Stewart asked a few questions about the case. Gould told him about the results of his APB. Stewart told him he had just received the same information and would meet him at the hospital. They all had a long drive ahead of them. Stewart was in Washington DC. The Olds left the lot followed by the Porch. The long day had turned into what promised to be a longer night. The drive was uneventful. A late supper was had at a drive through window. Weed and Jones were in the Porch discussing Verdoun and alternately how to pull off Monday morning's appearance at RayJon. Gould was blessedly alone with his overloaded thoughts. Occasionally they communicated directions back and forth by a pair of walky- talkies Jacob had provided. The hospital staff did not exactly welcome Gould with open arms. They told him that the patient was sedated and resting comfortably. They told him that when the patient first awoke he was very upset and seemed delusional. He insisting that he was a black man named Will Simmons and yelled a name, address and phone number over and over again. Finally Detective Register came by and talked to the man and calmed him down a bit. Detective Register asked a few questions and left. Detective Register did not tell them the man was wanted for murder nor did he tell the patient. An hour after we admitted Mr. Verdoun the local police came they read Mr. Verdoun his rights and put a guard on the door. Mr. Verdoun became quite excited and had to be sedated. They though the guard was a bit superfluous. Mr. Verdoun would not going anywhere for awhile his injuries included a broken tibia on his left leg and a dislocated right shoulder. Gould apologized profusely for his partner who had just not been himself lately. He made certain he had the "delusional" name, address and phone number for his notes. He checked out the reports of the EMS and admissions. He then said he had some people that could give a positive ID on Verdoun. The officer on guard and the medical staff let Ray and Weed look at the patient. They came out and Weed, after a single from Ray, Identified Verdoun. Gould, Weed, and Jones adjourned to a waiting room were they made plans. Weed and Jones would find lodging while Gould met the Fed and waited for "Mr. Verdoun" to wake up. Jacob was cleaning away the remains of a very late chicken diner when the phone rang it was Gould. Jacob said, "It is Detective Gould he wants to speak with you Cash." Register picked up the phone and said, "What do you have Jeff?" "I have Verdoun or at least his living body. He seems to have fallen off a train. I need you to check out a Mr. William Simmons of 6033 Haverford Avenue, phone number 555-8662, see if he is a real person and if he is were was he going." Gould said. "Can do," said Cash. "Anything new on your end?" asked Gould. "Not much we are staying at Jacobs place. We forwarded all Weeds lines here. We went to Weeds apartment and got some cloths for Gena. Then we went to Gena's and got some stuff for me to ware. Had to do a little breaking and entering for that. All else is quite here." Cash replied. "How are you holding up partner?" Gould asked. "Fair to lousy, but it does have some advantages to the time I was shot," Cash quipped. "I need one more thing, Weed and Jones will be calling you a little later tonight to tell you were we are staying. I will call you back to find were they are." Gould said. With that they said their good- byes.
